What can you call me about in an emergency?
To me, an emergency means a situation where you can't safely or reasonably wait. Think of a door that has slammed shut with your child or pet inside, a broken key that locks you out of your home, a lock that no longer closes after a break-in (attempt), or a door that won't lock while you need to leave.
In all those cases the approach is the same: call or WhatsApp me, briefly explain what's going on and where you are. You'll hear straight away whether I can come, how quickly, and what it costs.
Fast, but never rushed
I'm often on site faster than a service van in Amsterdam — certainly in the centre and in neighbourhoods with little parking. But speed must never come at the cost of care. Even in an emergency I open your door as neatly as possible first, explain what I'm doing and touch nothing without your approval.
Be wary of emergency locksmiths who suddenly quote much higher amounts on the spot. With me, the price agreed by phone is the price that applies — unless we decide together that more is needed.
Emergency rates per time slot
During the day (08:00–16:00) an emergency opening starts at €89, in the evening (16:00–22:00) at €119 and at night (22:00–08:00) at €149, including VAT. If drilling with a new standard cylinder is needed, the total starts at €188 (day), €218 (evening) or €248 (night).
At night I only come out for genuine emergencies. If your problem can safely wait until morning, I'll tell you honestly — that saves you the night rate.

Will my insurance cover the cost of a locksmith?
After a burglary or attempted burglary, many insurers cover the cost of a locksmith and new door hardware, in full or in part. Whether that applies to you depends on your policy. I always provide a clear invoice with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and VAT number so you can submit it to your insurer; after a burglary, always report it to the police as well.
What if you can't get the door open? Do I still pay?
No. In the unlikely event that I can't get you back inside, you pay nothing — no call-out charge and no labour costs. You only pay once the problem is solved. With a door that has slammed shut the chance of success is very high; if anything more is unexpectedly needed, I always discuss that with you first.
Can I call you in the evening or at night too?
For genuine emergencies you can call in the evening and at night too — you'll hear straight away whether I can come. At night the night rate of €149 and up applies, which I always confirm in advance.
How fast are you in an emergency?
I aim to be on site within 30 minutes. At the first contact you'll hear a concrete arrival time for your location straight away.
What should I tell you when I call?
Your address, what's going on (slammed shut, locked, broken key, burglary damage) and the type of door. A photo via WhatsApp helps me bring the right materials.
Do you help businesses in an emergency too?
Yes. I also help shops, offices and homeowners' associations in emergencies, such as an entrance door that no longer closes or a lock that needs replacing after a break-in attempt.
Is an emergency opening more expensive than a normal appointment?
The rate depends on the time slot, not on the word 'emergency'. During the day you simply pay the day rate from €89, even if I come right away.
