About me: Kai, the locksmith behind Geen Probleem Sloten
No chain and no call centre. When you call Geen Probleem Sloten, you speak directly with the locksmith who carries out the job himself.
One locksmith, from first contact to invoice
My name is Kai, founder of Geen Probleem Sloten (Dutch for “No Problem Locks”). I help people in Amsterdam and the surrounding area who are locked out, have a key snapped off in the lock, have lost their keys or want to make their home secure again after a break-in. I also replace cylinders and locks by appointment and advise on burglary prevention.
When you get in touch, you speak to me personally — in English or Dutch. I assess the situation, quote the cost in advance and carry out the work myself. There is no intermediary taking a cut, and you always know who will be at your door.
"Locksmith companies often work with high, unclear prices, rotating staff and little regard for customer service. I understand you want to know where you stand when you've just pulled your door shut behind you in a stressful moment. That's why, with Geen Probleem Sloten, I want to stand out through good, clear and affordable service."
Training and experience
I am a trained locksmith with hands-on experience in opening and securing doors and locks in a wide range of situations. Through Geen Probleem Sloten I put that expertise to work for residents, landlords and businesses in Amsterdam and the surrounding area.
My approach
The locksmith trade has a mixed reputation. Many companies that look local online are really call centres that sell jobs on to whoever happens to be available. You only hear the price once the work is done.
Geen Probleem Sloten works differently: one point of contact, one phone number and agreements that are fixed in advance.
How I work
- Price up front. You hear the rate before I set off. An emergency lockout costs from €89 during the day, from €119 in the evening and from €149 at night. All prices are on what does a locksmith cost.
- Damage-free first. In most cases I can open a door that has simply slammed shut without drilling. If a cylinder does have to come out, I explain why first and you hear the price before I start.
- No entry, no fee. If I can't get you back inside, I charge no call-out fee and no labour.
- Checking who gets in. I may ask for ID or proof of residence. That protects you: a locksmith shouldn't let just anyone into a home.
- Clear payment. You can pay on the spot by debit card, payment request or cash, and you get an invoice with my Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and VAT number.
- Guarantee. I give six months' guarantee on installation work; materials carry the manufacturer's warranty. The full terms are in the terms and conditions.
Why a motorcycle
In Amsterdam a company van loses a lot of time to traffic and limited parking. By motorcycle I can reach you quickly, even in busy districts and narrow streets. I aim to be with you within 30 minutes; when you call, you'll hear straight away what the arrival time is for your address.
Service area
I work throughout Amsterdam, from Noord to Zuidoost and from Nieuw-West to IJburg, and in the surrounding municipalities: Diemen, Duivendrecht, Amstelveen, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Aalsmeer and Uithoorn. I deliberately don't claim to cover “the whole of the Netherlands”: only in an area I know well can I be there quickly and reliably.
